What does Relentless do in FC 26?

Relentless helps your players stay energised on the pitch, with the key benefit being a boost to half-time fatigue recovery . This means you’ll see any players with the Relentless PlayStyle regain a significant amount of stamina during half time. This also applies when moving to extra time . Those with Relentless+ will regain even more stamina, making them absolute powerhouses on the pitch.

Relentless was nerfed somewhat during FC 25 ’s lifecycle, where Relentless+ players would still be on basically full stamina at the end of a game. This ability has also been nerfed at the start of FC 26 thanks to the introduction of Competitive Gameplay in Ultimate Team, where players now no longer feel the effects of low stamina while they’re on the ball .

Therefore Relentless is now a more subtle PlayStyle, letting your hardest working players make better forward runs deep into extra time, while also continuing to track back for the whole match.

The Relentless PlayStyle also allows you to maintain defensive pressure for longer. This means tactics such as teammate contain, which is when you press R1 or RB to make a nearby teammate run at the opponent’s attacker in possession of the ball, will use less stamina and can be pressed for longer. Relentless+ players will hunt down your opponent for ages compared to regular players when you hold R1 , so it’s quite noticeable.

The same is true for the press tactic, which will prompt your defenders to swarm the opposing player in possession of the ball. Either of these tactics would usually exhaust your players, but picking players with the Relentless PlayStyle for your squad means you’ll be able to push for longer.
