Update January 2026: We added the newest Brawlers, and rearranged our tiers to reflect the latest Buffies-driven meta!
Brawl Stars is a smash-hit sensation, and not just because it’s popular! This slick and fast-paced Battle Royale pits a huge roster of colorful characters against one another in a variety of different arenas and game types.
In quick-fire matches with your friends and against online opponents, the diverse list of different Brawlers makes for a deceptively deep metagame, with more skill and strategy needed to get the most out of your character than you might expect.
If you thought the art style looked familiar, Brawl Stars is one of the main free-to-play titles from Supercell, the makers of massive Android and iOS games like Squad Busters , Clash Royale, and the classic Clash of Clans .
Played from a top-down perspective, Brawl Stars feels like a chaotic mix of Super Bomberman and Vampire Survivors , with a bit of the cutesy action aesthetic of Enter the Gungeon . So it’s sure to tickle the nostalgia strings of old heads searching for that party-play buzz, as well as anyone hungry for bite-sized chunks of competitive combat.
As you take control of one of ten brawlers battling it out to be the last one standing on the map, with suffocating, deadly gas creeping in from every direction, you need to make sure you’re rolling into battle with the best character in your arsenal!
However, when there are dozens of different Brawlers you can play as in Brawl Stars, all of whom wield different weapons, it can be really tough to decide who should make the cut. So, if you’re not sure which character to main, our Brawl Stars tier list is here to help - ranking every brawler from best to worst.

Why are these the best Brawlers in Brawl Stars?
Right now, the top five spots on our tier list are occupied by the Brawlers who synergise most effectively with the new Buffies feature: Emz , Cordelius , Spike , Piper , and Edgar . For several of these characters, that represents quite a comeback, having previously slipped quite a way down our tier list; and even perennial favourites like Piper and Edgar have seen a big boost from Buffies and their endlessly stackable buffs.
Naturally given the number of different modes in Brawl Stars, Brawlers’ performances vary situationally, but newer characters are of course designed to perform especially well, which is why relative newcomers Ziggy and Gigi are still following close on the heels of our current top five. Ziggy is a powerful unit with high mobility and useful crowd control attacks; meanwhile, Gigi is a little more finicky, but her supercharged spinning attacks are no joke.

Graceful ballerina Gigi dances her way to the very top of the tier list as one of the latest Brawlers to be introduced — what, doyouwant to be the one to tell her she’s creepy?Image credit:Supercell
Following the new recruits in at number eight is Kaze , which is hardly surprising given that she’s currently the only Ultra Legendary character in all of Brawl Stars. While rarity doesn’t always equal power they don’t just go describing a unit as “Ultra Legendary” for no reason, and anybody who’s invested time and/or money into obtaining this half-geisha half-ninja murder machine will be pleased to know that her win rate hits over 80% in multiple different modes.
Currently in ninth place, unassuming office worker Jae-Yong is our top-rated support class Brawler, providing enviable boosts to teammates’ speed or health depending on whether he’s in work mode or party mode, and able to switch freely between the two when using his Super. A literal jack-of-all-trades when it comes to support, as proven by his win rate peaking at over 90% in some team-based modes, unsurprisingly, he struggles considerably in solo or duo modes, but can still maintain a respectable 60% win rate even on his own.

R-T is one of many original characters who’ve gone up a tier in our latest review of the meta, which just goes to show that it’s not always all about the newest and shiniest Brawlers. |Image credit:Supercell
If tanks are your style, then our old pal Draco – one of the rare launch characters to retain a place near the top of the meta after more than a year of updates – has you covered from his spot at #10 on the tier list. This heavy metal knight has a lot of different survivability tools that allow him to occupy enemies, either by uppercutting them or absorbing damage. His regular attack deals more damage at long range, encouraging enemies to come closer to him, where he can then activate his Super for a powerful burst of damage.
We’re sad to report that Brawl Stars’ sister game, Squad Busters , is shutting down in just a few days at the time of writing.
