Following a bad day to be on Twitter if you’re not a fan of arguing with people about video game boxes, Xbox’s Phil Spencer has revealed that the console maker does plan on addressing the elephant in its room…via an update that you’ll have to wait until next week for.

If you’re out of the loop, recent reports that the green company is considering bringing the likes of Indiana Jones and the Great Circle and Starfield to PS5 down the line, rather than keeping them exclusive until the sun burns out. Thankfully, everyone’s favourite t-shirt wearing games man has stepped up to reassure the panicked Xbox faithful, sort of.

“We’re listening and we hear you,” Spencer declared in a tweet that started off in unnecessarily creepily phrased fashion. “We’ve been planning a business update event for next week, where we look forward to sharing more details with you about our vision for the future of Xbox. Stay tuned.”

So, there you have it. All those things you MUST know about the strategy of the large money-making entity responsible for that thing you’ve got hooked up to the telly in your living room/bedroom/bathroom, just put them all in a little box and lock it up tight for seven days or so. Everyone can handle that, right?

Meanwhile, CD Projekt Joint-CEO Michał Nowakowski has taken the chance to affirm that its games “will continue to be platform agnostic”. This’ll spare the developers of Cyberpunk 2077 and The Witcher from the “headache” of chatting about exclusivity on Twitter, except, you know, when its head honchos fancy posting about it, like Nowakowski did here.

This whole exclusivity/or not industry gossip and chatter of today makes me happy it’s not my headache. CDPR games are and will continue to be platform agnostic. We love the fact you play the games we made. It’s up to you to choose your playground. — Michał Nowakowski (@michalnowakow) February 5, 2024

Hey, at least it’s definitely not the weirdest or most annoying thing a big corporate exec’s ever done.
