Update: We have updated this Noklateo, Shrouded City guide with more information to help you out, and have added additional links to the rest of our Nightreign guides.
Noklateo, the Shrouded City is the last of the Shifting Earth events that you’ll unlock in Nightreign , and it’s probably one of the most dangerous areas/events that can be added to your map. The city – which is enormous – is semblant of Elden Ring ’s Nokron and Nokstella, and is packed with spectral mobs, brutal bosses, and of course, a delightful reward at the end.
If you wish to check out this reward and everything Noklateo has hiding away in it, here’s our guide on how Nightreign’s Shrouded City works , and how to claim the area’s reward.
Nightreign Shrouded City event explained
Noklateo, the Shrouded City is a huge city that spawns in the lower south-east corner of Limveld in Nightreign, and it is typically unlocked after defeating your sixth or seventh Nightlord .

The Shifting Earth event will last for a few Expeditions – much like other events – before eventually disappearing, though you can rest in the bed in the Hold to sleep through and skip the event if need be. After this point, all Shifting Earth events – Noklateo included – will occur randomly and very rarely.
That said, you can retrigger a Shifting Earth event using Soverieign Sigils at the Collector Signboard in the Hold, if you fancy. To get your hands on Sovereign Sigils, you must succesfully take part in the Everdark Sovereign game mode , which sees a single Nightlord get an enhanced, tougher fight each week.
Sovereign Sigils are awarded for successful attempts, and can also be spent on Relics and skins , as well as Shifting Earth events.
To check if a Shifting Earth event is active, look at the right-hand side of your screen when going to matchmake and begin an Expedition. Here, it’ll say if an event is active and what event it is. It is also worth noting that when you do have a specific Shifting Earth event active, everyone in your party must have unlocked the event.
Whoever in your party has a Shifting Earth event active should ideally be the one hosting the Expedition if all of you wish to go and experience it.
What to do in the Shrouded City in Nightreign
First things first, if you plan on visiting Noklateo, the Shrouded City in Nightreign and uncovering all of its secrets, you’ll ideally want to dedicate the entirety of Day 2 to exploring it .
Fortunately, the Night’s Tide typically closes in on Shifting Earth events during Day 2 of an Expedition to give you ample time to explore it, but dedicating just half of Day 2 to the area runs the risk of not reaching the reward at the end of it before your Night 2 boss spawns.
This means hitting the mines, churches, and any other important POIs on Day 1 so you have all of Day 2 to spare to the Shrouded City and its formidable enemies. Once you’re finally ready, you’ve a long route to run through the city to reach the boss at the end and the reward behind them.
There are spoilers for what lies at the end of Noklateo, the Shrouded City ahead.
First, climb the broken bridge at the very front of the city to enter, and then keep right. Once you’re up the stairs and through the archway here, climb up the ledge on your right (shown below).

Keep right and run past the Merchant (unless you want to make a quick purchase). Jump over the wall behind the Merchant and continue straight ahead, climbing up the wall where the fence is broken.
In the next area, continue running straight ahead – under the bridge and up the stairs – and be careful to avoid the rocks being flung at you by the nearby enemy. Continue following the stairs ahead of you until you come to a fountain and waterfall; climb up the waterfall to the very top of it (shown below).

At the top of the waterfall, there should be a nearby Site of Grace you can grab. It’ll either be in the gazebo in front of you, or at the top of the stairs on your left. Either way, go up the stairs on the left.
At the top of the stairs, go forward and jump down onto the platform beneath you (shown below), and then keep right.

You’ll soon encounter a Black Knife Assasin in a narrow corridor. Once the boss is felled, go past them – towards the edge of the map – and keep left. Climb up the ruins here.
Once you’ve climbed up the ruins, go left around the building (shown below), jumping over the gaps in the floor.

Continue straight ahead up the stairs to reach another gazebo with a Site of Grace inside of it. To the right of the gazebo is another miniboss for you to take down, and once that’s done, you can advance up the stairs here. Make sure you are prepared for a fight!
At the top of the stairs, you’ll arrive in a very grand room, and so will the Naturalborn of the Void. Thought you had enough of Astel and his brother in Elden Ring? Well, there’s yet another one of these creatures to come up against in Nightreign. Fortunately, they’re easier to overwhelm than Astel, Naturalborn of the Void as a trio, especially with the arsenal of abilities each Nightfarer can use here.
Once the Naturalborn of the Void has been defeated – and I think the Night’s Tide is put on pause, or at least slowed down, while you’re in this fight – quickly collect your Dormant Power drop from the boss and then grab the Shrouded City reward from the altar at the very back of the room.
The reward is a passive trait that allows you to rise from defeat once, meaning that if your entire team happens to be downed during the fight against the Nightlord, you’ll all be able to self-revive and keep going.
This passive effect can only be used one time, and can save the most chaotic of runs from failure. Plus, all the Runes and Dormant Power drops you’ll have grabbed from the bosses inside of the Shrouded City make the visit even more worthwhile!
This isn’t all that there is to do in Noklateo, Shrouded City. If you take a left and keep left upon entering the city, you can actually access a coffin that allows you to duplicate a weapon once . You can also access the Naturalborn of the Void by going this way, but I find the route a little lengthier if you don’t have anything you feel like duplicating.
On top of that, the area is home to other bosses - such as the Nox Dragonkin Soldier - that are well worth trying to defeat on your way out of the Shrouded City if you’ve time to do so.
