Heartopia meteor showers: When is the next meteor shower in Heartopia?

Everything you need to know about Heartopia’s most elusive special weather event.

Heartopia is a life sim with a weather system that typically encompasses three broad categories: sunny days, rainy days (rain can also be snow, but that’s not overly complicated), and rainbow days. Rainbow days are the rarest, but there is one weather event that’s even more unusual: meteor showers .

As the name suggests, meteor showers are a nighttime occurrence in Heartopia, but if you were thinking that they’re just the flipside of rainbow weather, then you’d be mistaken. Meteor showers occur on their own timetable separate from the day’s weather, and if you want to be prepared to catch one in action, you’ll likely need to plan ahead.

When is the next meteor shower in Heartopia?

Heartopia’s first meteor shower after its global release was on January 24th, and was advertised by XD on their social media channels. However, it seems as though meteor showers will be a regular (though comparatively rare) weather event, similar to rainbows during the day, and so probably won’t be quite as readily advertised next time. Here’s how to tell when the next meteor shower is coming.

Open the “watch” (game menu) and you’ll notice that the current weather is displayed at the top, next to the time information. Click on that weather icon and you’ll be taken to a nifty weather forecast app that shows the planned in-game weather for the next seven days.

You’ll see a detailed breakdown of the weather over the next 24 hours, including any changes between Heartopia’s four times of day; followed by a single-icon summary showing the predominant weather conditions for the following six days. In the screenshot above, you can see that the next meteor shower seems to be coming on Friday.

Meteor showers last from 6pm to 12am server time , which maps onto the “Evening” time of day but might not necessarily match your local time zone (so, for example, my fellow Brits playing in the Global server will need to be online between 5pm and 11pm GMT if they want to participate).

What to do during meteor showers in Heartopia

Apart from being an aesthetically pleasing spectacle, there is a type of resource that only becomes available in Heartopia on meteor shower days: Starfall Shards .

During a meteor shower you’ll be able to mine Starfall Shards, which are created when meteors strike the ground. These resemble ore or Flawless Flourite mining nodes, but come in various different gem-like colours: white, yellow, purple, and blue (the latter can be difficult to differentiate from the daily Flourite mining nodes). The spawn points for Starfall Shard mining nodes are all in the Onsen Mountain region of the map.

(Interestingly, I was online during the day before a meteor shower began and was able to locate and mine one Starfall Shard node ahead of time; this might have been a glitch.)

While you can’t directly use Starfall Shards in crafting – which is a bit of a shame – you can locate the special weather-exclusive vendor NPC Doris , and exchange your Starfall Shards at Doris’s Meteor Shower Fortune Store . Doris has a selection of star-themed crystal furniture available, including a full bathroom set and various lights, and she’ll sell them to you in exchange for Starfall Shards of the appropriate colour variant.

Doris will also trade you different-coloured Starfall Shards on a one-to-one basis in case you’re coming up short for the colour scheme you want, so don’t worry and be sure to collect everything! Starfall Shards don’t respawn until the next meteor shower event, so it makes sense to collect all you can find when given the opportunity.
