WUCHANG: Fallen Feathers is a challenging soulslike RPG set in the land of Shu during the late Ming Dynasty, and part of its challenge is the perilous enemies you’ll be fighting, who have all been inflicted with a disease known as Feathering . As you venture through temples and palaces mowing down enemies, you’ll also find plenty of friendly NPCs, some of which you can summon for help.
Summoning in WUCHANG: Fallen Feathers works a little differently than other soulslikes, as it appears that specific summons can be summoned for specific fights and that’s it. Basically, there’s no Mimic Tear to carry you throughout this one! For all you need to know about summoning, here’s how to summon in WUCHANG: Fallen Feathers .
Here’s your spoiler warning for the below guide, which shares some details about the Shu Sanctum section of WUCHANG: Fallen Feathers.
How to summon in WUCHANG: Fallen Feathers
At the very beginning of WUCHANG: Fallen Feathers, you’ll run into a character called Nian Suichang in the Narrow Stretch area. He’ll request that you find him some elixirs from the nearby villages for his injured brother, and if you agree to help, he’ll give you an item called the Bone Whistle (shown below).

He advises that you can use the Bone Whistle to call on him for help when need be, and this is then your summoning device. With that in mind, you might want to equip it to your toolbelt of items alongside your Manna Vases so it’s easily accessible.
To actually use the Bone Whistle and summon someone, you’ll need to use the item while within a boss fight . That said, we’ve only been able to use the Bone Whistle during one fight during WUCHANG’s early-game, which we’ve noted below:
- Nian is summonable for the Feathered Priest fight in Shu Sanctum.
- Nian is summonable for the General of the North, Al Nengqi fight in Cloudspire, if you retrieve and return his Tattered Pack to him.
- White-Robed Elder is summonable for the fight against Bo Sorcerer if you keep up qith his questline up to this point.
- He Youzai is summonable for the fight against Bai Kru at Bai Mansion, if you have completed his quest steps prior.
We’ll make sure to update this page with more possible summons soon!
