Minecraft seeds are a numerical code which represent the foundations of your world, and determine exactly where your adventure will begin. When creating a new Minecraft world, you can type in a seed to either control the type of world you spawn into, or perhaps just write some random digits and see what you get.
No matter what kind of starting area you prefer, there’s bound to be a seed for you; there are craggy icebergs, lofty clifftops, sprawling villages. Some seeds will offer a challenge, with others are ideal for new players. We’ve even got some gorgeous scenery too, if building idyllic bases amidst lush scenery is your thing. Here are some of the best Minecraft seeds for version 1.21.5 of the game.
How to use Minecraft seeds
The Minecraft seeds we’ve got here are best used in the latest version of the Java client (unless stated otherwise!), but you can use them in other versions or on console platforms.
To use a seed, simply select the option to create a new world and head into ‘more options’. Scroll down to the Seed field and then enter your seed value, which you can find examples of below. Type out your seed, making sure to include the minus symbol if there is one. And away you go!
We’ve tried our very best to include seeds that work well in both Bedrock and Java versions of the game, focusing on world generation first and foremost. Your world’s layout and biomes should remain the same between platforms, though any structures or POIs mentioned below can generate in different places on Bedrock (compared to where we’ve noted that they spawn on Java, which is what we have used to test the below seeds).
The short of this is that regardless of which Minecraft version you’re playing on, don’t hesitate to try exploring a seed if it interests you!
The best Minecraft seeds for 1.21.5
- Seed Name: Archipelago Challenge

Water, water, everywhere, and not a drop to drink. That’s your challenge here, should you choose to accept it.
Whichever direction you choose, you’ll find either ocean or islands as part of this huge archipelago. It’ll be a real challenge to not only survive here, but use it as a base for adventure. Don’t be too discouraged, though. Once you start dipping below the tides, there are several monuments to pillage. You also spawn near some flat plains, ideal for building your first base of operations.

This particular seed is gome to a huge crater of cherry-blossom covered cliffs, with a nice patch of flat land - and a pond - smack bang in the middle. If you’re a fan of building using cherry blossom wood, and like the idea of having a secluded base built into the cliffs, this seed is for you. There’s also a nearby outpost and two villages (in Java) to help kick off your adventure!
You’ll want to travel to co-ordinates X12000, Y111, Z1392 to find this particular marvel. In creative mode, you can use the following command to do this: /tp 12000 111 1392 .
- Seed Name: Dual-Biome Mountain Crater

This seed features an incredibly impressive dual-biome crater (half jungle, half pale garden) in the middle of a huge mountain crater for you to take advantage of. There’s no lack of resources here, and it’s the perfect place to build with friends, especially if you all split up and take over one half of the crater each.
You’ll find this particular area by teleporting to the following co-ordinates: X852, Y123, Z-20

This particular seed spawns you in the plains biome, right in the middle of a small village (in Java), with dozens of huge mountains - which reach max generation height - surrounding you. If you like mountains, whether that’s building into them or exploring them for resources, this seed is the one for you.
- Seed Name: Huge Mangrove Swamp
- Seed Value: 929568499221

If you feel like starting out in the mangrove swamp biome, with plenty of jungle nearby, this seed is ideal for you. Upon spawning in, you’ll find yourself in a village surrounded by loads of swamp for you to live your best Shrek-themed Minecraft life, or whatever it is you like doing in swamp biomes.
The village here is sadly only limited to Java users, but this does mean that those using this seed in Bedrock will have a nice patch of land - in the very middle of the swamp - to build whatever they desire.

If you want a seed that spawns you right by an enormous lush cave, where you will find all manner of decorative plants, ores, and axlotls, this is the seed for you. This particular cave network spans thousands of blocks, meaning you’ll be finding segments of lush cave and huge, scenic caverns throughout your underground exploration of this seed.
Travel to the following co-ordinates to spawn in a pool that is just above one a huge portion of the cave: X-32, Y19, Z-231 .

If you fancy starting your adventure and setting up base in the Badlands biome, this seed is perfect for exactly that. Not only do you spawn amidst a huge chunk of badlands blocks, but there’s huge mountains in the biome too for you to build into and mine from.

If you fancy the challenge of starting out in an icy, snowy biome, this particular seed allows you to do just that, but there’s a slight surprise. When you spawn into this particular seed, you’ll see a huge floating mountain structure in the middle of the biome.
It looks like the ideal spot to build your own floating castle in the snow, or perhaps you can build above the water beneath it! The choice is yours.

Mushroom biomes can be pretty tricky to naturally come across at times in Minecraft, but you don’t have that worry with this particular seed, which boats a huge mushroom island to explore. Nearby, you can also find an ocean monument and a ruined nether portal (in Java), and with some luck, you might even find a Mooshroom to take home with you!
The mushroom island is a short walk away from spawn, found at the following co-ordinates: X-1158, Y72, Z-361

This particular seed works best for those using the Java version of Minecraft.
Those on Bedrock will spawn into a world that has a wide range of biomes within walking distance (including some flat plains biomes ideal for building), but Bedrock users will be missing out on the structures that this seed is impressive for having: a woodland mansion with an outpost tower on top of it.
Having a mansion and outpost to hand is great for some early-game rewards, and why not turn the mansion into part of your base once you’re done?
After spawning in, the woodland mansion is found just 200 blocks away, poking outside the side of a cliff near the pale garden biome. More specifically, you’ll find it located at the following co-ordinates: X174, Y69, Z124 .

If you fancy a real challenge for your next survival run in Minecraft, this survival island scene spawns you on an isolated plains-biome island (with a touch of savannah), leaving you with nothing but some pigs and some wild flowers to get started.
There’s also few trees to chop down here, so you’ll need to manage resources carefully if you decide to give this island a whirl.

If you fancy a challenging island spawn for your next adventure, but the isolated survival island above doesn’t have enough going on for you, then how about a huge jungle cliff island?
This particular island has lots more space and resources to work with. For a start, the jungle island is atop multiple cliffs, and there is no shortage of trees to chop down and begin building with. There’s also copious amounts of bamboo, and for those on Java, a jungle temple to explore.
Then, when you’re prepared, why not go mining into these cliffs and seeing what the caves inside have hiding away in them?

If you’re looking for a winter-themed seed with plenty of space to build, this particular seed spawns you into a winter wonderland. Travel to the co-ordinates of X597, Y63, Z-40 to find yourself in the middle of a huge, flat frozen lake surrounded by snowy mountaintops and lots of trees.
It’s ideal for isolated, festive builds or any sort of icy adventure you wish to go on. With some boats, you can even turn the frozen lake into a huge ice rink for you and your friends to slide around!

If the previous cliff island seed impressed you, then how about a cliff island mansion with a stony shore to explore? This island has a woodland mansion sat atop it waiting to be looted (which you happen to spawn right in front of), and a cave network beneath it for you to go mining in.
Those playing on Bedrock will sadly not be likely to have a woodland mansion on top of this island when they spawn in, but for anyone who fancies a challenging start on a cliff island - that isn’t swarming with jungle and bamboo like the above seed - will have a great time trying to survive here.
There’s also plenty of dark forest woodlands on top of the cliffs and even some mushroom trees to help you get started with building a base and a farm.
- Seed Name: Dark Forest Oasis

The above seed is incredibly impressive, boasting a huge oasis surrounded by dark forest, with that forest then surrounding by pale garden mountains. It also works great on both Bedrock and Java versions of the game!
Looking at it, it’s hard to believe that this particular oasis was randomly generated, and it’s the perfect playground for building an enormous isolated base amidst a rather beautiful-looking bit of scenery.
- Seed Name: Flat Meadow with Surrounding Mountains

The above seed is ideal for folk who simply wanna get to work building in a large flat space (whether that’s solo or with friends), as it offers plenty of nearby resources to mine for and nearby biomes to pay a visit to. You’ll spawn into a huge, relatively flat meadow - with plenty of surrounding caves - ideal for building gargantuan structures.
The meadow is also surrounded by mountains which act as a very scenic backdrop for any build, but they’re also ideal for exploring! Who knows what lay in the caves beneath them?
Those playing this seed on Java will also find an outpost tower in one corner of the meadow!
- Seed Name: Flat Meadows with Village

If you’re looking for a flat meadow seed ideal for building - much like the above seed - but would rather not be surrounded by mountains and waterfalls, then this seed is for you. It spawns you into a huge meadow where you can build to your hearts content, and just in the distance, there’s both a snowy mountainous biome and huge pale garden biome to eventually explore once you’re ready.
According to YouTuber, Minecraft & Chill, who recommends the seed: those playing on Bedrock will find a village in the middle of the meadow to help you get started. Usually, structures in Bedrock do not spawn in the same place when using the same seed on Java, but by some stroke of luck, a village also appears in near spawn when using this seed in Java too! An outpost tower is also just a short walk away in Java.
- Seed Name: Desert Island

I’m personally not the biggest fan of the desert in Minecraft. Sand is a great resource and all, but not great enough for me to want to live amongst it. If you fancy the challenge, though, this seed spawns you on a desert island with nothing but a camel and some cacti to accompany you.
Bedrock users will be off to a good start here, given that the island is home to not one, but four desert villages. Java users, however, won’t spawn in with these villages to hand, and will instead need to get a little more creative when it comes to being a Minecraft castaway. There is one nearby shipwreck to help Java users out with their first pieces of food and armor, however!

This seed spawns you in a huge mushroom forest, but what makes it really stand out from every other mushroom biome seed is that if you travel to the co-ordinates of X769, Y69, Z50 , you’ll find yourself on a mushroom island, where the surrounding land happens to be home to every single biome in Minecraft.
Your cold biomes are situated north of the mushroom island, while warm biomes are located in the south, providing a seed that is ideal for your next Minecraft survival challenge.
- Seed Name: Cherry Blossom Hill with Moat

Last, but not least, this list would not be complete without at least one more cherry blossom biome seed. This particular seed is home to a beautiful bit of flat meadow atop a large hill, surrounded by a moat. On top of that, the surrounding hills are all covered in cherry blososm trees, providing your hilltop build with some very pretty surroundings.
On top of that, YouTuber BlazinMC (who recommends the seed) states that those using this seed in Bedrock will also find a village atop this moat-surrounded hill, giving you a great start. During our testing, it just so happens that a village spawns atop this hill in Java too!
That said, to reach this particular area using the seed, you’ll want to travel to the following co-ordinates: X-321, Y112, Z-509 .
