The Sims 4 Lost Legacies Event Guide: What it is, how can you take part, and what are the rewards?

As is now more or less a tradition at this point, The Sims 4 is currently running an in-game event to tie into its latest expansion pack release. With The Sims 4 Royalty & Legacy coming out in mid-February, the Lost Legacies event aims to promote the pack’s new features – as well as its hefty dose of new Sims world lore – with exclusive goodies for players who take part during the six weeks surrounding launch.
Lost Legacies is actually doing a few things differently this time around. On the one hand, it’s the first Sims 4 event to ask you to complete actual gameplay tasks in exchange for some rewards that are exclusive to previous expansions (boo!), but it also introduces the intriguing idea of lightly branching storylines in event questlines (tentative yay?).
What is the Lost Legacies Event in The Sims 4?
Lost Legacies is a time-limited event in The Sims 4, running from February 3rd to March 16th, 2026 . The first four weeks will introduce new weekly quests and reward unlocks, while the final two weeks are a “grace period” to allow players to catch up and complete all parts of the event should they want to after joining late or taking a break.
The event begins automatically upon loading the game. During the event period, details of active, completed, and upcoming quests plus all rewards can be accessed any time by clicking the event widget (plumbob symbol stylised like a wax seal) that appears in the top left-hand corner of the screen. You can also use this icon to minimise the event UI, although it can’t be dismissed altogether – unfortunately for those who prefer not to participate.
Rewards of common in-game items like books and potions, Satisfaction Points, as well as the event’s new collectable type (ornate keys), will be delivered to the inventory of whichever Sim is your active character when you claim them; but rewards that grant new Build/Buy items, recipes, and other event-exclusive goodies will be unlocked for all saves in your game going forward.

TS4 Lost Legacies quests and tasks list
Lost Legacies is composed of eight quests, two of which will unlock every week throughout the first four weeks of the event. Unlike some previous events in The Sims 4, both the quests themselves and most tasks within them unlock linearly, meaning that you’re following a set storyline rather than choosing which order you complete the event tasks in. However, for the first time in a Sims 4 event, you occasionally get to make a small branching choice (more on that later).
One general piece of advice to take into Lost Legacies is the vital importance of a new NPC referred to as the Royal Envoy , or simply “the Envoy”. Their presence is required for the completion of many quest steps, and while they will generally spawn into the active lot of their own accord, we all know that The Sims 4 can sometimes have a little trouble ensuring everything runs smoothly.

Thus, it’s useful to know about two failsafes that ensure you don’t get softlocked . The first is the self-interaction Call the Envoy to the current lot , which can be performed on any active teen or older Sim to summon the NPC if they’ve failed to spawn. The second is the ability to click on the question mark icon next to the quest list , which helpfully highlights the Envoy if they’re already present with a glowing outline and hilariously large arrow to make sure you can’t miss them this time.

TS4 Lost Legacies rewards list
Completing tasks and quests as part of the Lost Legacies event generates Event Points that unlock rewards. Rewards can be unlocked as soon as the EP requirement for them has been reached , so there’s no need to “spend” points to get rewards; it’s all cumulative, and you can just claim everything that you’ve unlocked from the event page.
There are 28 event rewards in total , including 18 event-exclusive unlocks which are denoted in bold (three of which have additional pack requirements to use):

Do I need to buy Sims 4 DLC to complete Lost Legacies quests?
Despite being unmissably themed around the new Royalty & Legacy expansion – including deep-diving into the new pack’s lore in a quite unprecedented way – you don’t actually need to own this DLC (or any others) in order to complete the event quests.
However, three of the rewards on offer do require you to own a certain piece of DLC to be able to use them in-game:
- Life & Death is required to use the Draped Memorial Display (Week 1)
- Horse Ranch is required to use the Embroidered Duchy Saddle (Week 2)
- Enchanted by Nature is required to use the Glittering Fairy Princess Gown (Week 4)
These are all relatively new expansions – released between 2023 and 2025, to be exact – so might present an access issue for players who like to wait for DLC to go on sale before purchasing. On the plus side, EA have confirmed that any rewards you unlock are from then on associated with your EA account even if you can’t use them right away .
So, if you bought one of these expansion packs at a later date, your Lost Legacies reward item would show up in your game then. Furthermore, each pack-gated item is paired with another base game compatible reward at the same EP cost, so you’ll never be left entirely missing out. It still feels very cheeky of EA to slip in a few incentives to buy yet more new packs into this event, but this is worth knowing about.
