Update: We have added the remaining bosses - from Chapter 3 and beyond - to this list.
WUCHANG: Fallen Feathers takes place in the land of Shu during the late Ming Dynasty, with a strange, mysterious illness plaguing its inhabitants. This illness, coined the Feathering , has seen multiple people become sick, start spouting feathers, and ultimately, transforming into unrecognisable beings.
A lot of these beings are the bosses you’ll be facing throughout this soulslike RPG, and Wuchang has a lot of them for you to come up against and defeat. To ensure you don’t miss out on any gruesome enemies or the land of Shu’s surprises, here’s all bosses in WUCHANG: Fallen Feathers and the order to fight them in .
Here’s your spoiler warning for bosses and key locations in WUCHANG: Fallen Feathers.
WUCHANG: Fallen Feathers boss list and order
To help you with making sure you’re on the right path in WUCHANG: Fallen Feathers, and that you don’t miss out on any of the game’s horrifying boss fights, here’s exactly what bosses to expect and what order you should tackle them in.
- Bai Kru
- Master Raider, Man-eating Dhutanga
- Feathered Priest, Lu Bingzhang
- Gluttonous Monstrosity, Lu Hongliu
- Blightweaver, Great Centipede
- Reborn Treant, Soulwood
- Tang Palace Maid
- Commander Honglan
- General of the North, Al Nengqi
- Ming General, Liu Cheng’en
- Mistress of the Night, Huang Yan
- Perfect Bride, Fang Lin
- Bo Sorcerer
- South General, Liu Wenxiu
- Fierce Tiger and Sovereign
- Monstrous Toddler, Bai Kru
- Nightmare Demon
- Vermillion Feathers
- Bo Magus
- The Reborn and Dragon Emperor
- Final Boss
Bai Kru
- Closest Shrine: Reverent Temple
Bai Kru is WUCHANG: Fallen Feather’s version of Elden Ring ’s Grafted Scion, and merely acts as a sample of what is to come. This is a tough fight presented to you by the Boatman at the very beginning of the game, and once you die, you’ll be respawned at the Reverent Temple with no way of fighting the boss again right now.
Master Raider, Man-eating Dhutanga
- Closest Shrine: Lightzen Temple
Dhutanga is your first real boss in WUCHANG: Fallen Feathers, found inside of the Lightzen Temple, and you must defeat him to progress. He’s fortunately not too difficult, given that this is your first proper fight, but you will want to watch out for his fiery second phase and the AoE blasts he produces.

Feathered Priest, Lu Bingzhang
- Closest Shrine: Shu Sanctum
After venturing beyond the Lightzen Temple, you’ll eventually come to the beautiful albeit rundown Shu Sanctum in WUCHANG: Fallen Feathers. This area acts as a hub of NPCs, with two Merchants for you to purchase items from, but the third floor of the building hides away a much darker presence: Feathered Priest, Lu Bingzhang. Like Dhutanga, you must defeat Lu Bingzhang to progress.
Lu Bingzhang utilises magic and spends plenty of his time being aerial, but he’s not too tanky. If you’ve engaged with Nian’s side quest at all, you’ll be able to summon him for this fight too, making light work of it.

Gluttonous Monstrosity, Lu Hongliu
- Closest Shrine: Shu Sanctum
Gluttonous Monstrosity, Lu Hongliu is one of your first optional bosses in WUCHANG: Fallen Feathers, found in the villages that surround Shu Sanctum (which I highly recommend exploring before progressing past Lu Bingzhang). She’s got a pretty impressive HP bar, and her capability of dodging backwards is a little troubling if you’re using a slower build (like an Axe build), but if you can build up her Obliterate value and dodge her basic moveset, she’s no problem.
Lu Hongliu is not needed to progress, and you can always come back to her later on in your playthrough.
Blightweaver, Great Centipede
- Closest Shrine: Bandit’s Cave
Blightweaver, Great Centipede is an exceptional fight in WUCHANG: Fallen Feathers, if like me, you really enjoy battling it out with nightmarish insects. Found beneath Shu Sanctum, this boss is needed to progress but fortunately doesn’t pose too much of a threat.
Easily stunned, and with predictable attacks, this fight isn’t much to worry about as long as you avoid being inflicted with Corruption.

Reborn Treant, Soulwood
- Closest Shrine: Doomwillow Beach
Beyond the Bandit’s Cave is the eerie Doomwillow Beach, and it’s here that you’ll run into the Reborn Treant, Soulwood , who can’t help but remind me of Dark Souls 3 ’s Curse-Rotted Greatwood.
This WUCHANG: Fallen Feathers boss is very gimmicky, and mainly requires waiting out its attacks so you can recharge your Skyborn Might, and using fire magic to incinerate it slowly but surely.
Tang Palace Maid
- Closest Shrine: Palace Hill
After fleeing Doomwillow Beach in WUCHANG: Fallen Feathers, you’ll eventually arrive at Tang Emperor Palace. Sooner or later, you’ll be thrown into a fight with the Tang Palace Maid.
Now, you’ll have fought one of these maids earlier on in the game already, but this particular Tang Palace Maid is ramped up in difficulty. Though, she is still no more difficult than any of the major bosses you’ll have faced so far, and is nothing to worry about.
While this is an optional fight, I’m mentioning it anyway because if you’re exploring everywhere – especially every palace building – you’ll no doubt be running into her whether you like it or not.
Commander Honglan
- Closest Shrine: Palace Hill
Your next non-optional fight needed to progress in WUCHANG: Fallen Feathers is Commander Honglan , who resides in Tang Emperor Palace’s Courtyard, after you have drained it of water. This boss is, simply put, no joke. She’s incredibly agile, she hits very hard, and she’s the ultimate test of patience.
My only advice with this fight is to make use of the tooltip shown to you before it: use Clash and Deflect where possible, and these can be unlocked for your chosen weapon in the Impetus’ Repository’s skill tree. Similarly, you want to play slowly enough to dodge her attacks, but still try and attack just enough to keep building her Obliterate value.
General of the North, Al Nengqi
- Closest Shrine: Rebel Camp
General of the North, Al Nengqi, is found nearby the Rebel Camp in WUCHANG: Fallen Feather’s Cloudspire region. He’s fortunately not too troubling, especially given how tough prior boss, Honglan, is. Though, if you do have any trouble, you are able to summon Nian Suichang for his fight if you return his Tattered Pack to him.
Al Nengqi will dish out a mixture of Frostbite and Paralysis damage, firing off lightning arrows at you wherever possible, before unleashing some fiery attacks in his second phase. With Nian taking aggro, I was quite easily able to build up the Obliterate value on Al Nengqi from behind as he peppered Nian with his arrows; try it out!

Ming General, Liu Cheng’en
- Closest Shrine: Cloudspire Outskirts
Ming General Liu Cheng’en is found a short walk from Al Nengqi, guarding Snowpeak Pass in the Cloudspire region of WUCHANG: Fallen Feathers. He’s swift, unleashes frost, and can even phase around the arena in an attempt to dodge your attacks, but he’s still nothing on Honglan.
For this fight, getting behind Liu Cheng’en wherever possible and trying to pull off backstabs is a very viable strat, but you can also parry many of his attacks if you learn his moveset.
Mistress of the Night, Huang Yan
- Closest Shrine: Snowfall Palace
After felling Liu Cheng’en, you’ll advance into Snowfall Palace, which is a beautiful building with a few NPCs to meet and plenty of maidens who are less than happy to see you.
Beneath the Palace, you’ll be fighting with Mistress of the Night, Huang Yan, who utilises a lot of magic and stomping. She’s not too much trouble if you can avoid her stomps, though her second phase is definitely a little more chaotic as she transforms into the fox that adorns her coat.

Perfect Bride, Fang Lin
- Closest Shrine: Bride’s Boudoir
Perfect Bride, Fang Lin, is arguably far from that given the chimera head that’s coming out of her back, and she puts up a very tough fight. She’s a product of the Mad Doctors of Shu who forged limbs together to make the ideal bride, which isn’t the most pleasant of beginnings.
It’s likely that this will be your toughest encounter since Commander Honglan, especially given that this will be your first fight that has separate health bars for each of her two phases. Good luck!

Bo Sorcerer
- Closest Shrine: Avian Dwelling
Your fight against the Bo Sorcerer is a very beautiful one, full of spectacle as she dashes around the arena and dances around you almost. Expect to be dodging plenty of sword sweeps and slashes - with exceptional reach - as well as magic attacks, some of which feature ranged projectiles.
Into her second phase, expect vortexes of water that can stagger you and even more fancy sword work. While her movset can be difficult to master, her attacks have decent wind-up times (and audio cues) to help you with predicting her attacks, and she is Obliterated quite easily.
We have ommitted any images of bosses from Chapter 3 and beyond of WUCHANG: Fallen Feathers, as some of these monstrosities are best first seen for yourself. If you do want a glance at who you’ll be coming up against, take a look at this YouTube video from Gamer’s Little Playground.
South General, Liu Wenxiu
- Closest Shrine: Zhenwu Antechamber
South General Liu Wenxiu is a tough fight; he’s fast, electrifying, and as is the case for the majority of WUCHANG’s opponents, he hits hard. He also uses a gun, which feels a touch unfair, but it isn’t like we don’t also have firearms at our disposal when the Firearm Dual Blades exist…
You’ll want to play it particularly safe during this fight, given how Liu Wenxiu is capable of dashing across the arena and stabbing you, or unleashing AoE Paralysis attacks. When he’s firing his gun, however, this is the perfect opportunity for you to sprint behind him and attack.
Fierce Tiger and Sovereign
- Closest Shrine: Altar Gate
The Fierce Tiger and Sovereign fight is your second boss fight to feature an individual health bar for each phase of the fight. Initially, you’ll be facing the ferocious tiger, and once he’s felled, the Sovereign (Zhang Xianzhong) will emerge from his back, breathing life back into the creature, before fighting you while riding the Fierce Tiger.
The Fierce Tiger isn’t too much trouble to take down and has a moveset full of paw swipes and lunge attacks that you’ve probably come to expect from this type of boss. That said, he does also unleash Paralysis attacks to be cautious of.
In his second phase, expect even more Paralysis as the Sovereign lunges at you, prances through the sky, and swipes at you with his huge, electrified glaive.
Monstrous Toddler, Bai Kru
- Closest Shrine: Bai Mansion
Once you reach Bai Mansion in WUCHANG: Fallen Feathers, it’s time to be reunited with Monstrous Toddler, Bai Kru, who’ll you have met briefly at the very beginning of the game. As opposed to the first encounter with Bai Kru, you actually need to defeat the beast this time around.
Provided you’ve kept up with his quest, you can summon He Youzai for this fight whilst within the arena.
Nightmare Demon
- Closest Shrine: Annalum (Worship’s Rise in Ruins)
After felling the Monstrous Toddler, you’re not too far from the end of the game. That said, you are not done with taking down nightmarish bosses just yet, especially given that the Nightmare Demon is your next opponent.
This is the ultimate fight with your Inner Demon, and you’ll have taken her down God knows how many times by now, so this fight should be a breeze for you at this point in WUCHANG: Fallen Feathers. Though, there’s no denying that the Nightmare Demon is tougher than any Inner Demon you’ve faced yet.
Vermillion Feathers
- Closest Shrine: Palace Pass (Worship’s Rise in Ruins)
The formidable Commander Honglan is back, but something has changed… That’s right. Our duel with Honglan that did not end in death has come back to bite us, with the next boss fight in WUCHANG: Fallen Feathers being against Vermillion Feathers Honglan. Here, you can quite clearly see that the Tang Commander has succumbed to the Feathering, and acquired many new, devastating moves as a result.
With a single wing that she’s capable of attacking and conjuring magic projectiles with, on top of her Longswords, you’re going to have your work cut out for you when being reunited with Honglan in this stunning fight.
Bo Magus
- Closest Shrine: Palace Entrance (Worship’s Rise in Ruins)
Another familiar face is Bo Magus, who you’ll have likely met during the beginning of the game at Buddha Cliffs or in Doomwillow Beach. This red-clad lady is a force to be reckoned with, dishing out plenty of magic damage while also stabbing away at you with her fiery spear, but those coming up against her with axe builds will likely have a breezy time.
You’ll have your work cut out for you with this fight, but if you can keep her shields down during her second phase and keep up with her phasing around the arena while having an abysmal amount of reach with her empowered spear, she isn’t too challenging. The real challenge is near, though…
The Reborn and Dragon Emporer
- Closest Shrine: Burning Cave (Worship’s Rise in Ruins)
For our next and final boss fight that features two separate health bars for each phase, you’ll be tackling The Reborn and the Dragon Emperor. That sounds epic because honestly, this fight really is. For the first half of the fight, you’ll be coming up against the wolf-like monstrosity that is The Reborn. This four-legged creature is comparable to the Fierce Tiger, and its attacks are quite easily predicted and dodged.
Once you’re done with The Reborn, however, the Dragon Emperor is born. The Reborn stands up on his hind legs now and pulls a sword from the water below him, and thus, the real fight begins.
SPOILER WARNING: Stop reading here if you do not want to know the name or identity of the final boss of WUCHANG: Fallen Feathers.

Final Boss
- Closest Shrine: Avian Dwelling
After taking down the Dragon Emperor, it’s time for you to face the final boss of WUCHANG: Fallen Feathers. This hideous winged foe is revealed to be Feathery Ambition Xuanyuang upon starting the fight, so he might look a little familiar. All those warnings about the Taoist seem far from silly now…
Feathery Ambition Xuanyuang is no doubt the most difficult opponent you’ve had yet. After all, it would be a little underwhelming if Xuanyuang was easier than the foes you’ve faced so far. While a real challenge, this fight is one of spectacle as Xuanyang spends a lot of his time aerial, swooping in for attacks and swiping at Wuchang using his body and wings.
